Sri Chaitanyadev's ancestral home and temple is a historical
pilgrimage site and tourist center located in Mishrapara village of Dhaka South
Union of Golapganj Upazila of Sylhet. The house of Upendra Misra, grandfather
of Sri Chaitanya, the founder of Vaishnavism, was built in the 18th century. Every
year there is a fair and a large number of tourists during the month of
Chaitra, which is locally known as "Tagore's home".
Main attractions and features:
Historic Temple: This temple dedicated to Sri Chaitanya Dev
has to climb 13 steps and pass through a lion door to enter.
Annual fairs: Fairs and special pujas are held here on the
occasion of birthdays on every Sunday of Chaitra month of Bengali year.
Place: Dhaka South of Golapganj, which is about 18-20 km
from Kadmatoli in Sylhet city. located far.
Travel and Timings:
Transportation: From Kadmatoli in Sylhet city by bus to
Dhaka South, from there by CNG or rickshaw to Misrapara Shri Chaitanya Dev
House.
Fare: Bus fare is Tk 30 per person and CNG autorickshaw fare is around Tk 40 per person.
Time: It can be visited throughout the year, but during the
fairs or festivals of Chaitra month, the most tourists flock here.
